Pierre Gasly , the Alpine F1 driver, has a well-known reputation in the paddock for being a bit of a football enthusiast. He has, in recent times, participated in some charity football matches, and following in with his love for the sport, he has taken the leap to buy a minority stake in a French team.

Pierre Gasly has bought a stake in the semi-pro FC Versailles outfit. It is a third-division club in the French football structure, however, the exact percentage of the stake that Gasly has bought has not been revealed.

The 28-year-old is extremely pleased with his recent move and is excited about what lies ahead for him as a co-team owner.

I am delighted to get involved with FC Versailles because I have always wanted to get involved in professional football. With Alexandre and Fabien [owners], we share values, ambition and a keen competitive spirit which will allow us to positively develop the club. This is the start of a very beautiful story. Go Versailles! Pierre Gasly said in an interview with Independent

Gasly is an out-and-out football fanatic who has over the years, attended games of quite a few football clubs. Most recently, he was even presented with a Number 10 shirt by the Arsenal Football Club. Gasly acknowledged the gesture via his Instagram account.

Pierre Gasly’s Alpine has been deemed ‘faceless’ by ex-F1 driver

while Pierre Gasly is ecstatic after buying a minority stake in FC Versailles, his 2024 F1 season has not got off to a strong start. Alpine’s A524 has so far proved to be the slowest car on the current grid.

The whole team is in absolute shambles and has been bashed by various prominent personalities of F1.

Really difficult times for Alpine. The two drivers have been upbeat in their response to the predicament that they find themselves in. I find that Alpine are faceless. I don’t know who is running the show. David Coulthard said via Formula for success podcast

Gasly has managed a P20 and a DNF during the first two races of the ongoing 2024 F1 season. His teammate, Esteban Ocon has also not fared much better as the Alpine drivers don’t have a solid car underneath them. The upcoming Australian Grand Prix weekend could also prove to be another challenging one for both drivers.
