Major Update On CM Punk’s Return From Injury Revealed: Is He On Track For A Return At SummerSlam?

A new report on CM Punk’s recovery from a torn triceps is very good news for his legion of fans.

Multi-time WWE champion CM Punk made his shocking and triumphant return to the company in November after 10 years away. His comeback was one of the biggest moments in the company in 2023 and set the stage for some fascinating matchups in the months ahead, including a rumored clash with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

However, those plans all fell apart when the “Cult of Personality” tore his tricep for the second time in the last two years during his appearance in the 2024 Royal Rumble. It pushed back all the grand hopes fans had for him and limited what he would be able to do for the company for many months.

Nevertheless, he has stayed active on WWE television and his ongoing feud with Drew McIntyre is a highlight on Raw. A torn tricep can take as much as six months to fully recover from, and on Monday Dave Meltzer revealed that CM Punk is very much on pace to be back in the ring this summer.

“Punk is not that far from being back. I mean, I would say if he had his surgery at the end of January. You’re looking at the end of July, August, maybe September, which is not that far away anymore,” Meltzer said on a new edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. “I mean, it’s like he might make SummerSlam, you know, and if he can make SummerSlam, Punk, and Drew for the title, that makes a lot of sense.

“Even if he can’t, you know, you could do it the month after because eventually, Punk will be back fairly soon. It’s not as far away as sometimes you think because of that surgery.”

Punk has looked in good shape and has not had the brace he wore at WrestleMania during recent Raw appearances. He has also mentioned in recent interviews that the recovery process for this triceps tear has gone better than when he had the same injury in AEW, so a return in August for the biggest wrestling show of the summer looks very likely.
